Default About trading and Zkeys for a noob GW player

Hello I am new to GW and I just started a few days ago and I'm trying to get 10-20 points of HOM. My goal is 20 if possible ... 30 I see maybe a bit difficult.

A good old friend gave me 310 zkeys, he has already 50/50 and this is all that can give me. He told me that I can spend 200 to get the title PVP and 100 for use as currency. My questi??n, people in P table try to trade me zkeys for ectos... but, I can trade zkeys for pets, armours, and weapons? With zkeys I have a chance to get 20 points of HoM or more?

Thanks for advance, and sorry, im so noob :/

you can sell the zkeys at great temple of balthazar for 5.5-6k each. for those tryin to trade ectos, just tell them you prefer cash.

First off, I think your friends gift is very generous. Using 200 keys on the zaishen chest is a very good plan (from the great temple of balthazar leave to the isle of the nameless and use the keys on the chest there (a bit to the left up some stairs), make sure you pick up the goods that drop and you don't hit the problem that your inventory is full while there are drops on the floor (if you sent me a pm in here with your ingame name I am happy to donate 2-3 merchant stones, they let you summon a merchant there to sell away the junk.

First of the very valuable drops from he chest
a: everlasting tonic: if you get this it is definitly worth selling to others.
b: desirable weapon skins. Some skins are total worthless and some are very valuable. Best way is to have an experienced person with you. The desirable ones can be sold for a nice amount of money.
c: Consumables, there are 3 kinds of them Tonics (regular ones that are consumed at use), creme brulee and firewater, The can be sold for money and stack.

The other 150 zkeys can also be sold.
Now the important bit, you don't need to trade the keys directly for miniatures or weapons. You can also trade them for gold and platinums.
So depending on your drops from the 200 keys and the selling of the 150 keys you will gain roughly an amount of 850-900 platinum. (also known as 850-900k, cause 1000 gold = one platinum, and 1000 is also known as one kilo)

now how to use that mountain of money to get the best out of your hall of monument.
a: keep in mind you need tapestry's, the first is acquired on arrival at your hall. The others can be earned by playing the game or bought from other players (current price bout 3-4k each)
b: the hall of monuments consist of different monuments. the first points at every monument is easy to earn, the later are harder. For example.
adding a regular miniature gives you one point. adding 3 regular miniatures offers no extra points. but adding a regular, a rare and a unique miniature you get 3 points. (basicly adding the first kind of a miniature, armor, companion or weapon type offers one or two points and getting 5 of any of them offers
one or two points).

Miniatures are considered the easiest and cheapest. They cost on average 10k (rare and unique ones more) each and you can add them right away.
Hero-statues are easy as wel the armor pieces are relativly cheap. but the downside is that you have to have played through a significant part of the game to have the heroes unlocked and have access to the right npc to equip the armor.

The weapons doesn't need a lot of gameplay to buy and add them to your hall, but they are expansive (destroyer weapons and opressor weapons cost 100k, tormented weapons nearly 200k).

The armor statues are expensive (ranging from 60k for the cheapest to 1100k to the most expensive ones) and to get them you need to play a fair bit of the game to get to the npc that makes you the armor.

The last monument is that of titles. Most titles expect you to play the game, some (like the one for opening the zaishen chest 200 times) are for sale. But except that one (it rewards 3 hom points) I wouldn't recommend it. they are expensive (more then 1000k) and if your lucky you get one hom point out of them.

Using 200 Zaishen keys will net you three points for a PvP statue; if it's the first statue, that will also get you 3 points for a linked account and 2 points for your first statue. So you're already sitting at 8 points.

---

Remember, only you can make your armor; you can't trade for it. You can trade for crafting materials, but not for the actual armor.

---

BIG WARNING for cash trades!!! You can only have 100k on a character at any given time. That means you should only sell in lots of 15 keys or the buyer will gold cap on their trade and you lose money. Always double-check, or they may happily rip you off.

Ectos are a form of secondary currency in-game. Their value is based on current trader prices, which are likely in flux due to the upcoming launch. Cash is a safer bet, as you may end up losing money.

---

Now, those extra 110 keys will help you a LOT. That's worth around 560-600k, more than enough to buy yourself a few points. Here's what I'd recommend for getting to 20:

* Make a character in Prophecies and level him to 20 without going to the Academy. Look up Defender of Ascalon guides for more info.
* Try to play through each campaign on Normal Mode. At the very least, complete the final mission. Each one will earn you a statue.
** On completing the final Factions mission, go as a Ranger, either primary or seconday, and tame the Imperial Phoenix.
* Grab M.O.X. outside of Lion's Arch. He can be dedicated immediately.
* Get armor upgrades for three more of your heroes. Cloth of the Brotherhood is relatively cheap and good for your early Eye of the North heroes.
* Buy one common and one rare miniature.
* Buy one Oppressor's Weapon

This should net you a relatively easy 20 points in your Hall. The biggest chunk of time will be spent in the campaigns. If you have trouble, you can consider hiring a runner for some of the more difficult missions.

TSBasilisk Thanks mate, a lot

I was thinking of following this guide http://buildwars.forumotion.com/t300...onuments-guide but the truth is that your way seems more simpler

Yeah. Though cash has it limits for high trades the other alternatives are not always accepted. In my experiences if you want an expensive item, then get the cash, trade it for ecto's and sell those.
The reason that cash has it limits is that you can't have more then 99k in your inventory so for trades above 99k you need to either use an alternative or do the trade in more then one trade session (but the last is difficult. if your e.g. buying a weapon that is worth 200k, the owner of the weapon can't split it into two parts).

Globs of ectoplasm are atm worth bout 6,5k each. They stack so in one spot in your inventory you can put 250 of them and in a trade window you can put 1250 of them. So globs of ectoplasm are a great way to trade items worth between 99k - 8125k.

you might want to read this page now I think of it:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Scam

Having 350 keys means you have a sh*tload of money. most people need to play for several months to have that amount. With your inexperience people might take advantage of you and try to scam you

Thumbs up

Also you can get 10 more free z-keys just by talking to High Priest Zhang at the Great Temple of Balthazar.

You will get 50 tournament tokens and you can use them to get 10 keys. This can be done once per account.

I can't believe that someone is recommending you to get the Zaishen PVP title.

200 zkeys = 1 million = enough to get a character from 0 to 30/50 HOM

Definitely sell them if you're going for 30/50 HOM.

6 commandments of 30/50 HOM(atleast for people not as rich as you):
- Don't get more than 30 minis
- Don't get more than 10 titles
- Don't get the goddamn Zaishen PVP title
- Don't get vabbian/obisidian armor
- Don't get tormented weapons
- Don't get more than 1 opressor and 1 destroyer weapon

All the rest is pretty much free game.

Collection of recommended points guide that I posted on reddit
http://nl.reddit.com/r/GuildWars/com...ient_3050_hom/

At the end there's a piece about which points are debatable.

In short, atleast go for those 28 points. Last two points are debatable. I personally recommend this one though.

Actually you have so much money that you can break the commandments and just buy it straight up.

kewlsnake,

your reddit guide asks from people to play the game. The OP wanted to know how to use the keys to get as many points possible before gw2. to follow your guide would mean that he need to play through almost every part of the game.

I do believe people should play the game, but I also realise that with 22 days left (for those going to GW2) there isn't much time to really accomplish a lot on that track

Main reason of my post was for him to discourage buying the Zaishen PVP title. Even if you only want to buy stuff it's still a horrible investment

EDIT: Actually I'm wrong. If you're just going to buy stuff, you can't get any other titles. Spending a mill on zaishen gives you 3 points for pvp + 2 points for "any title". 200k per point isn't so bad. That's also ignoring the potential drops you get from zaishen.

EDIT2: Quite interesting really that the zaishen pvp title is viable on the very specific situation where

- You have a boatload of money
- You have no interest in playing the game

It's also still possible to get 30/50 HOM with 5-10 hours of playing a day but requires (too) much effort. http://www.reddit.com/r/GuildWars/co..._at_beginners/

Still if you insist to get as much bang for your buck without playing the game.
This is while going on the "non zaishen pvp statue" path.
310 keys give around 1500k

account link (3 points)
Get all the minis you need for <700k (8 points)
Buy opressor + destroyer + tormented weapon for < 400k (4 points)
get 2 more opressor weapons for around 200k (1 point)

Dedicate M.O.X ( 1 point)
Make a PVP ranger, put pet in menagerie, get pet from menagerie and dedicate it ( 1 point)

Get Gwenn, Vekk and Ogden, buy them cloths of brotherhood for 15k, dedicate so you have 5 dedicated heroes (2 points )

Gives you 20 points in total without playing the game.

Strongly suggest you actually finish atleast one campaign. Gets you one title which gives you 2 points. You also have access to elite armor then which gives you another point.

23 points in total.

Depending on how much money you have left and accessibility, spend it all on elite armors or dedicating more heroes.

EDIT3:
Break even when going on the "zaishen pvp statue" route and assuming you have 900k to spend after.

account link (3 points)
Zaishen PVP statue + any title statue (5 points)
Vekk, Ogden, Gwenn, M.O.X, any pet dedicated (4 points)
40 mins for <600k (7 points)
Destroyer+Opressor+Tormented for <400k (4 points)

23 in total
